The song serves as the fourth international single from the album (fifth overall) and was first serviced to Canadian radio on December 15, then to Australia on January 29 and was released on March 15 in the UK. The song was officially sent to U.S. radio stations on May 11, 2010.[1] The song has so far reached number 9 on the Billboard Hot 100. The line "I wanna rock right now", which is repeated several times in the song, is sampled from Rob Base and DJ E-Z Rock's 1988 song "It Takes Two."[2] Contents [hide] 1 Music structure 2 Critical reception 3 Music video 4 Track listings 5 Chart performance 5.1 Chart procession and succession 6 Radio add dates and release history 6.1 Radio add dates 6.2 Release history 7 References Music structure "Rock That Body" is an electropop song with influences of trance music synthesizers[3] and 1980's dance music.[4] The song makes use of kick drums to synth figures that sound like crow caws to a famous Rob Base sample of "it Takes two".[5] The Black Eyed Peas use auto-tune throughout the song, most notably by Fergie.[6] The song is most known to critics as a robotic party track on the album.[7] The song has been compared to be stylistically simiar to Flo-Rida.[8] The song is also compared to Madonna's "Revolver." Critical reception "Rock That Body" has been well received critically by Mike Schiller of PopMatters.[9] Alex Fletcher of Digital Spy gave the song a positive review stating: When did the Black Eyed Peas become the most bankable pop act in the world? Will.i.am, Apl.de.ap, Taboo and Fergie
could record the sound of a collective trump, put it on a loop with some crashing beats behind it and still probably find themselves hogging the No.1 spot for a couple of months. What's more, sales of last year's The E.N.D. LP now total a whopping seven million worldwide. 'Rock That Body' is the fourth single from the record and there's no reason that it shouldn't follow the other three in heading to the summit. With hot-right-now producer David Guetta on knob-twiddling duties, it's got plenty of pounding beats, synths that sound like they've been filled with Red Bull and more twisted vocal effects than an mp3 of Akon cutting loose in a vocoder factory. It's pretty simple stuff and it will no doubt grate something rotten on the 36th listen... but will you care when you're body-popping to it after one too many shandies on a Friday night? The song was awarded a 3 star.[10] Music video From left to right Apl.de.ap, Taboo, Fergie and will.i.am holding stereo-guns in the second half of "Imma Be Rocking That Body".The video was filmed on January 13, 2010. The music video, directed by Rich Lee, was shot back to back with the video for "Imma Be".The 4th song on "The E.N.D.[11] The two songs were mashed up into a medley, which is titled "Imma Be Rocking That Body". The medley length is 8:15 and the music video in total is 10:21. It premiered on Vevo and Dipdive on Tuesday, February 16, 2010.[12][13] The videos were separated for music channels with the introduction and conclusion removed. The video is described as a futuristic Wizard of Oz.[by whom?] It is the sequel for the "Imma Be" video. It begins with Black Eyed Peas and their good robot arriving at a city, the people in the city are stuck on a loop. The 4 members of the group shoot them with their stereo-guns to end their loop so they could continue dancing. As things are going well, the bad robot appears and kidnaps Fergie, will.i.am chases after it with his own robot. After many failed attempts, will.i.am manages to shoot the bad robot, which starts dancing with the good robot. The video ends as the bad robot runs out of energy and faints.
