2000 NFL Draft From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia The 2000 NFL Draft was the procedure by which National Football League teams selected amateur college football players. It is officially known as the NFL Annual Player Selection Meeting. The draft was held April 15-16, 2000. No teams elected to claim any players in the supplemental draft that year. The drafted started with Penn State teammates Courtney Brown and LaVar Arrington being selected consecutively, making them the only Penn State players to go number one and two. The New York Jets had four first-round draft picks, the most by any team in the history of the Draft (16 teams have had three picks but no other has had four). The 254 players chosen in the draft comprised: Contents [hide] 1 Player selections 1.1 Round one 1.2 Round two 1.3 Round three 1.4 Round four 1.5 Round five 1.6 Round six 1.7 Round seven 2 Notable undrafted players 3 References 4 External links 12 Quarterbacks 16 Running backs 7 Fullbacks 35 Wide receivers 12 Tight ends 17 Tackles 16 Guards 4 Centers 3 Long snappers 24 Defensive ends 22 Defensive tackles 30 Linebackers 5 Defensive backs 26 Cornerbacks 21 Safeties 3 Kickers 1 Punter [edit] Player selections = compensatory selection = supplemental compensatory selection = Pro Bowler [1] [edit] Round one Pick # NFL Team Player Position College 1 Cleveland Browns Courtney Brown Defensive End Penn State 2 Washington Redskins (from New Orleans) LaVar Arrington Linebacker Penn State 3 Washington Redskins (from San Francisco) Chris Samuels Tackle Alabama 4 Cincinnati Bengals Peter Warrick Wide Receiver Florida State 5 Baltimore Ravens (from Atlanta) Jamal Lewis Running Back Tennessee 6 Philadelphia Eagles Corey Simon Defensive Tackle Florida State 7 Arizona Cardinals Thomas Jones Running Back Virginia 8 Pittsburgh Steelers Plaxico Burress Wide Receiver Michigan State 9 Chicago Bears Brian Urlacher Linebacker New Mexico 10 Baltimore Ravens (from Denver) Travis Taylor Wide Receiver Florida 11 New York Giants Ron Dayne [2] Running Back Wisconsin 12 New York Jets (from Carolina through Washington and San Francisco) Shaun Ellis Defensive End Tennessee 13 New York Jets (from San Diego through Tampa Bay) John Abraham Defensive End South Carolina 14 Green Bay Packers Bubba Franks Tight End Miami 15 Denver Broncos (from Baltimore) Deltha O'Neal Defensive Back California 16 San Francisco 49ers (from New England through New York Jets) Julian Peterson Linebacker Michigan State 17 Oakland Raiders Sebastian Janikowski Kicker Florida State 18 New York Jets Chad Pennington Quarterback Marshall 19 Seattle Seahawks (from Dallas) [3] Shaun Alexander Running Back Alabama 20 Detroit Lions Stockar McDougle Tackle Oklahoma 21 Kansas City Chiefs Sylvester Morris Wide Receiver Jackson State 22 Seattle Seahawks Chris McIntosh Tackle Wisconsin 23 Carolina Panthers (from Miami) Rashard Anderson Defensive Back Jackson State 24 San Francisco 49ers (from Washington) Ahmed Plummer Cornerback Ohio State 25 Minnesota Vikings Chris Hovan Defensive Tackle Boston College 26 Buffalo Bills Erik Flowers Defensive End Arizona State 27 New York Jets (from Tampa Bay) Anthony Becht Tight End West Virginia 28 Indianapolis Colts Rob Morris Linebacker Brigham Young University 29 Jacksonville Jaguars R.
